Honest Regional News

Editorial policy

Honest Regional News aims to make regional subjects engaging, clear and fair. We distinguish explanation from opinion, take care with claims and welcome specific corrections from readers.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual statements against suitable source material and give readers enough context to understand what a claim means. We take care not to turn a local example into a claim about an entire region. If a detail is uncertain, we say so rather than making it sound settled. We use plain language and explain terms that may be unfamiliar.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are made for the usefulness and relevance of the subject to readers. Payment or collaboration does not buy an editorial conclusion. Any material created with a partner, or any paid placement, is clearly identified as such so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial coverage.

Corrections and updates

If we find a meaningful error, we correct it and make the change clear in the article. Readers can use the Contact page to identify a passage and explain the correction, ideally with supporting context. We review the information provided and update the article when warranted; a correction is not a promise to adopt every suggested change.

Images and illustration

Illustrations are chosen to help readers understand a subject, not to imply evidence that is not present. Some illustrations may be generated with AI, and we label them where they appear. Illustrations are not presented as documentary photographs of a real regional event or place.

Our point of view

A region is more than a boundary

We look at the landscapes, customs and shared places that connect and distinguish neighbouring areas. Regional identity is layered, and no single story speaks for everyone.
