Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about the landscapes, customs, shared places, food traditions and routes that give regions their character. Send proposals through the Contact page; we do not need a finished article to consider an idea.
What fits
A strong proposal starts with a specific, evergreen question about regional life and explains why a curious reader might care. We welcome clear explanations, comparisons, histories and practical ways of noticing a place. The subject should fit our coverage without relying on unsupported claims about what an entire region or its residents are like.
What to include
Briefly describe the central idea, the approach you would take and what makes it distinct from our existing coverage. Mention the kinds of sources or examples you expect to use, and flag any uncertainty or limits. We value original framing, readable prose and a clear sense of what a reader will take away.
How to send a pitch
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then explain that you are proposing a contribution. Include your proposed subject and a concise outline. Please do not send confidential material or assume that an idea is commissioned simply because it has been submitted; we will consider proposals for fit and clarity.
A region is more than a boundary
We look at the landscapes, customs and shared places that connect and distinguish neighbouring areas. Regional identity is layered, and no single story speaks for everyone.
